This past 4th of July, I tried something new. Homemade pie. My mother made a galette. Both very delicious and very American. Quiet time at home with loved ones was just what I needed this year. I decided to bake a pie and not just any pie, a fourth of July American flag pie. Fresh strawberries and blueberries with a buttery, flakey crust. Star shaped cut-outs and stripes…So much yumminess.
I so enjoyed baking and sipping sangria all day. We let the rest of the weekend be spent in the pool and under the sun. I think I may just have to make pie-baking a yearly Independence day tradition. Maybe next time I’ll throw on either the movie The Waitress or Labor Day… Definitely sounds like a good idea to me.
